A handcar ride along century-old tracks!

A handcar ride along old, historic tracks is a unique attraction that lets you experience what travel was like in days gone by. It is a journey back in time that provides many unforgettable memories.

The history of the narrow-gauge railway dates back to the 19th century. Trains back then ran regularly on the route between Nowe Miasto and Warszawa Południowa (today's Mokotów). The Grójec Railway is part of the Piaseczno Narrow-Gauge Railway. During World War II, it was a vital supply link for Warsaw residents for food products rationed by the occupier. After the war, it helped rebuild the capital. It is said that every tenth brick brought in for the city's reconstruction came from the vicinity of Grójec.

The route we invite our guests on is the last surviving fragment of the Grójec railway line, which opened in 1898. Today, it serves as a tourist attraction, inviting you on a magical trip through the Modrzewina nature reserve, the Palace park, beautiful Masovian orchards and fields, all the way to the Mała Wieś Palace Vineyard.

The excursion is taken on pedal-powered handcars. It is an adventure for the whole family!

The current route is approximately 4 km long. Work is underway to extend the route by another kilometer. We strive to preserve all historical elements. The track is original, and damaged parts are restored using original pieces that the Mała Wieś Palace staff search for and try to save from other sections of the track. The route features original signs, kilometer markers, and trackside signals. And in the park, you can take a break at the shelter – a small station with a bench – and see photos of train schedules from decades ago.

Join us on a journey in 19th-century style. It is an unforgettable experience that not only allows you to have a great time but also to bring history closer to our youngest ones in a way that is interesting for them.

You can take a ride every Sunday – sign-ups take place at the reception. The round trip takes about an hour.
