Rose Garden at Mała Wieś Palace

All stories ↗

There are places that delight from the very first glance. Places you want to return to at any time of year, though their most beautiful spectacle begins in late spring. The Rose Garden at the Mała Wieś Palace is just such a place – elegant, full of harmony and fragrance, where the history of an 18th-century residence meets the timeless beauty of the queen of flowers.

A return to historical roots

The gardens surrounding the palace have always been an integral part of the residential estate. When Bazyli Walicki completed the construction of the neoclassical palace in 1786, designed by Hilary Szpilowski, a representative French garden was also created – full of symmetry, geometric alleys, and carefully planned greenery. In subsequent years, the park evolved, also acquiring the romantic character of an English landscape.

During the modern revitalization of the entire estate, the owners set themselves the goal of restoring the former splendor of the gardens. The historical plans of Klementyna Kozietulska served as inspiration, making it possible to recreate the unique character of the Rose Garden.

Three thousand roses – the heart of the palace gardens

Today, the Rose Garden delights with about 3,000 rose bushes, which form one of the most picturesque areas of the entire complex. Carefully designed flowerbeds fit into the classic layout of the French garden, highlighting the palace's architecture and its elegant viewing axes.

During the blooming season, the garden turns into a true sea of colors. Delicate pastels intermingle with intense reds, purples, and shades of pink, while the fragrance lingering in the air makes every walk a unique experience.

A place that encourages you to pause

The Rose Garden is not just a beautiful decoration for the palace. It is a space created for rest and celebrating the moment. A walk between the blooming flowerbeds allows you to slow down the pace, listen to the singing of birds, and feel the atmosphere of a place that has been delighting its guests for over two centuries.

It is no wonder that the garden has become one of the most photographed parts of the Mała Wieś Palace. It is here that romantic wedding photos, family keepsakes, and shots beloved by garden and photography enthusiasts are created.

More than a garden

The Rose Garden is part of a larger parkland with a rich history. Just a few steps separate it from the historical English park with monumental trees, antique alleys, and the Modrzewina reserve. In recent years, the garden space has also been enriched by the spectacular Fountain Garden, which perfectly complements the historical character of the entire complex.

Thanks to this, every walk through the Mała Wieś Palace becomes a journey through different styles of garden art – from the geometric elegance of French compositions to the naturalistic English park, and finally to modern solutions harmoniously integrated into the historical landscape.

When to visit the Rose Garden?

The garden looks most impressive from late May to July, when most rose varieties are in full bloom. However, it is worth remembering that many bushes repeat their flowering in late summer and early autumn, ensuring the garden delights for many months.

Every time of day reveals a different face – the morning light highlights the subtle colors of the flowers, the afternoon sun brings out the depth of the hues, and in the evening, the garden takes on an exceptionally romantic character.
